Rich Candy, Director

Rich Candy has a BSc in Computer Science and Physics and over 25 years of application development experience. He’s been developing and marketing websites since working for an Internet startup in London in 1995. Since then he’s amassed an extensive knowledge of website design and website and email marketing.

What makes Rich a cut well above your average geek is his understanding of design and marketing. Rich can talk about the Web in plain English, he avoids techno-babble and won’t use technology just for the sake of it.

After running a successful website design company in New Zealand for ten years, Rich saw a gap in the market and came up with the idea of creating low cost website design packages. He wants to provide a practical solution for small businesses on lower budgets and give them the benefits of having a well-designed and carefully planned website.

Rich is a Kiwi Pom from Africa who’s loving life on the Sunshine Coast in Australia. He grew up in Kenya, was educated in the UK and has travelled extensively in Europe, Africa, North America, Asia and Australasia, both for business and pleasure. After moving to Queensland after a two year family stint in Central America he thinks Noosa on the Sunshine Coast is the best place he’s been, and he’s here to stay.

When not enjoying the Great Outdoors with his family, Rich enjoys playing poker in the Great Indoors and is well on his way to becoming the most feared player on the Sunshine Coast, though there is no evidence as yet to support this extravagant claim!

Annabel Candy, Director

Annabel has an M.A. in Design for Interactive Multimedia from Middlesex University in London, and 19 years’ experience in website and interactive design. She’s been involved in designing and writing website copy for both global corporations like GlaxoSmithKline, JetStar and Sealord as well as for numerous small businesses and local start-ups on the Sunshine Coast, throughout Australia and around in the USA.

Annabel’s role bridges the gap between the technical team, whose prime concern is to make the site work, the graphic designers who make it look good and the clients whose knowledge of the Internet may be limited. Annabel obsesses over:

  • user-friendly Web design;
  • target audience (who, where and why);
  • navigation (allowing users to find the information they need and know where they are);
  • screen legibility (a totally different beast from print legibility);
  • Web copy (what you want to say and how you say it).

Annabel’s written dissertations on some of these subjects and has read extensively about design for interactive media so she knows what she’s talking about. It’s that solid foundation of the theory of website design, coupled with years of practical application of that knowledge in the business world that make Annabel’s expertise in Internet marketing and website design invaluable to a diverse range of companies.

Annabel loves meeting people to learn about their businesses and clients so she can make sure their website and copy is effective.

With a background in journalism and a broad understanding of the Internet, Annabel is a natural expert in website copywriting and copywriting for SEO (search engine optimisation).
